| (College of Physical Education and Sports,Beijing Normal Univer sity,Beijing 100875,China) Abstract: By investigating the number,types and areas of gymnasiums a nd stadiums of 58 universities in Beijing,and by using statistics method,we fo und that there were some existing problems of university gymnasiums and stadiums :the number is seriously limited while the building criterion is much too high; universities with different scales own different numbers of sports facilities b ut the possession rate is not significantly different from each other;and no si gnificant difference of possession rate is found among different university type s.Finally,on the bases of relevant documents and expert interview,we explored th e cause of the existing situations and put forward some constructive comments to serve the university physical education.
