| (Department of Physical Education, Fuzhou University,Fuzhou 350001，China) Abstract:An experimental study for one school year on under pass teaching between two groups of male university students who took volleyball for their PE class was conducted. The teaching methods stressing on recreation and competition were applied to the under pass teaching to make the practice more interesting, recreational and competitive, and make students more likely show off themselves. As the students of experimental group substantially improved their under pass skill, a higher work load was found when they played volleyball match in class.The necessity and feasibility of applying the teaching methods to university volleyball for recreation and body building are therefore demonstrated.
