（华南师范大学 体育科学学院，广东 广州 510006） 摘 要：通过“以图证史”的历史研究方法，在稀少珍贵的晚清和民国早期历史图片中考据广州网球运动开端文字材料的真伪，力图还原和印证这段历史。研究表明，广州不晚于1904年就已经由欧美殖民者在沙面租界建成了最早的具有现代意义的网球场；岭南学堂在广州网球运动本土化过程中具有里程碑意义；20世纪20—30年代，随着当时国民政府的推动以及广州市民体育会的成立，广州网球运动才得以在民间开展。 |

（School of Physical Education，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510006，China) Abstract: By using such a history research method as “history study based on pictures”, the author examined the authenticity of written materials about the origin of tennis in Guangzhou from the rare and precious historical pic-tures taken in the late Qing dynasty, and tried to restore and verify such a period of history. This research shows the followings: in Guangzhou, the earliest tennis court with modern significance was built in Shameen foreign settle-ment by European colonists no later than 1904; Canton Christian College had landmark significance in the process of localization of tennis in Guangzhou; between the 1920s and the 1930s, only with the promotion of the national government at that time and the establishment of Guangzhou Citizen Sports Association that tennis in Guangzhou were developed in the folk. |
