| (Department of Physical Education，Jinggangshan Teachers College, Jinggangshan 343009, China) Abstract:This essay is a report on the experimental research on the comparison between the “traditional-way teaching” model and the “cooperation-based teaching” model carried out with the physical education majors of the years of 1997 and 1998 of Jinggangshan Teachers College. The result of the experiment shows that the cooper ation-based teaching model works effectively in the teaching of the course of basketball, contributing enormously to the attainment of the goal of “three basics” and “four abilities”. The result supports thevien that t his teaching model agrees with the present developing tendency in education whose stress is on the improvement of students’ qualities and competence.
