| （Department of Physical Educalion，Wuhan University of Technology，Wuhan 430070，China） Abstract: “Combining sports with education” and “combining education with sports” look like two identical con-cepts, but actually their connotations are totally different. They determine two types of mechanisms for the cultiva-tion of backup talents for competitive sport in China. “Combining education with sports” currently implemented is put forward on the realistic basis that “combining sports with education” has failed to realize its set objectives. The backup talent cultivation mechanism that “combines education with sports” is the inevitable trend of time develop-ment, will surely lead to the change of the cultivation of backup talents for competitive sport in China from the tra-ditional “education and sports separated” mode into a brand new mechanism that completely relies on the cultiva-tion carried out by education systems. |
